Introduction

Ginseng is considered a panacea medicinal herb promoting longevity; a rejunative herb; an adaptogen for stress, weakness, and fatigue, both mental and physical; and as supportive treatment for many other ailments, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory disorders (Smith, 2014). As you can see, ginseng is believed to help with many ailments and has been used for millennium throughout various cultures.

Benefits of Ginseng

A study (Bell, 2022) showed that Cereboost(R) which is an American Ginseng extract improved short-term memory and attention/alertness in healthy young adults. The clinical tiral was conducted on 61 healthy young adults using a double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled.

The Ginseng Market

Growing ginseng can be very profitable. The global ginseng market size was roughly $2.7 billion (yes, with a 'b') in 2023 and is projected to reach around $5.6 billion by 2032 (Dataintelo and More 2025). One acre of ginseng can yield roughly 200-300 pounds of dried ginseng (dried ginseng has the highest market price). Global trade and supply and demand play heavily into the price of ginseng and a pound a dried ginseng can go anywhere from $500-$1200 a dried pound. The older the ginseng is, the higher the price you can command.
